I hate being on Tumblr and seeing posts that say “reblog if you’re hideous,” and it’ll have 70,000 notes. It makes me so angry that we live in a world where we look to outside sources to define what’s beautiful. We should be able to define beauty for ourselves…Shakespeare was onto that idea so long ago with “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” I just can’t stand seeing people spend their lives obsessing over how they don’t look like models. Who cares? At the same time, I think we’re getting better as a society. People are starting to stand up the media, and using sites like Tumblr to re-introduce other kinds of beauty. I try to never bash super skinny girls though, because I hate it when people imply that skinny girls aren’t real women too, because they are, just big girls, tall girls and every thing in between girls are! We’re all women, and even more so, we’re all human and each on of us is beautiful in my mind. Even the girls and guys that are ugly on the inside, I try not to judge them, because they were born beautiful on the inside, but something has just killed them on the inside making them like that, making them ugly inside. I just wish more people could see it in the same way. I’m not conventionally gorgeous, but I’m still beautiful, and I honestly want to spend the rest of my life helping as many men and women feel the same way about themselves.
